EASTER MESSAGE

At Christmas and Easter time, some of our Seminarians are invited by Mr. Dominic Azavedo, the B.C.C. Coordinator of Park Circus to help organize the Mass, Cultural Programme and Lunch at Titagarh Leprosy Centre and Colony run by the M.C. Brothers. It is here in this place I have felt that Christ is truly risen and alive in our midst. The love of the M.C. Brothers has transformed the broken lives of a large number of lepers living on the land donated by the Railways to Mother Teresa. These lepers were almost ‘dead’ but now are ‘alive’ because a band of Missionaries touched by the Resurrection of Christ have transformed their lives.

The Resurrection is a Passover, a Passage. It is a celebration of a passage from Death to Life. In the Bible, Passover is the passage from oppression in Egypt to liberation in the Promised Land. To celebrate it, was to remember the gift of Liberation. Jesus places his life in this context. In the Resurrection, He celebrates this passage from oppression and death to liberation and life. We become incorporated into this passage through our Baptism which invites us to become witnesses to the Resurrection of Christ in the world of today. Every time I promote the culture of life over against the culture of death, I proclaim the Resurrection of Christ.

Christ is risen. The tomb is empty.
The Cross which once was considered a ‘curse’
has now become a ‘blessing’.

May the Risen One bless you
and your families with His Peace and Joy.
Alleluia!
